1 Year in Poo Free Update

It's hard to believe it's been a year since I started on my poo free journey. If you've been following then you know I am now cowashing, but I still consider myself poo free as well. I decided to compare apples to apples today to see the real difference in my hair. So here we go.
Difference in air drying.

Before

After

This is the biggest difference in my opinion and how I normally wear my hair now. Just for fun I decided to use a hair drying today for the first time in a really long time to compare the blown dry results and here's what I have.

Before

Today

My hair feels healthier, it's easier to manage and I really just love it now. I'm not sure if you can tell in the pictures but my color is richer, and my hair is so much softer.

For those who did not follow. I did a baking soda and vinegar rinse all through my 7 week transition. After six months I started conditioning daily  or (cowashing) with a product called Shae Moisture conditioner and I use their "shampoo" about once a week. I put shampoo in quotes because if you haven't gone poo free you and you use this shampoo it could take a while to get good results. This shampoo doesn't lather and contains no sulfates or paragons. I'm not sure why they don't just call it poo free on the label.

So here we are, a year later and I still can't imagine going back. I'd love to hear your poo free story too, if you have one.

  1. I've been poo free for about two years. I found the baking soda was very harsh on my hair so I reduced the amount to about a 1/2 Tbsp per 2 cups water. I also use ACV with honey as an occasional rinse. Between 'washes' I use honey and water with some eo as a rinse. That seems to be helping to keep my hair from the breakage I was getting in the beginning.

I love how much fuller my hair is now. It used to be so limp. And it would be just gross if I didn't wash every day. I only do a wash about every three weeks now with a rinse with honey and water or ACV and honey once a week.

I tried an avocado and honey mask last week. I like the results of that. Other oil treatments I tried left my hair greasy.

One thing I've noticed is that it takes much longer for my hair to air dry now. It used to be dry in 10 minutes (I have pretty thin hair). Now it will still be damp after 30-40 minutes.

I've enjoyed reading about your poo free journey. I wish I'd thought to really document mine. :)
